How Much Does a Handyman Cost in London, Ontario? (2026 Price Guide)
"How much will this cost?" is the first thing almost everyone asks, and it's a fair question. Handyman pricing can seem vague because no two jobs are quite the same. This guide explains how handymen in London usually charge, what our common jobs start at, and what makes a job cost more or less.
Hourly rates vs flat prices
Handymen generally price work one of two ways:
- Flat rate for standard, well-defined jobs like mounting a TV, installing a light fixture or assembling furniture. You know the price before work starts.
- Hourly rate for a list of small jobs, or work where it's hard to know how long it will take until it's opened up, like an old leak behind drywall.
Published price guides for Ontario cities put handyman rates at roughly $50 to $120 an hour in 2026. Independent handymen are at the lower end, and insured companies with a team and a booking system at the higher end. Many also have a minimum charge or call-out fee for small visits.

What changes the price
- Materials. A basic light fixture and a designer one take the same time to install but cost very different amounts. You can supply your own or we can pick them up.
- Access. High ceilings, tight crawl spaces and work around finished surfaces take longer.
- What we find. Opening a wall sometimes shows rot, old wiring or leaks that need fixing before the original job can be finished. We'll always stop and talk to you before doing extra work.
- Urgency. Same-day, evening and emergency call-outs usually cost more than a booked visit.
- Licensed trades and permits. Bigger electrical, gas and plumbing jobs, and some renovations, need a licensed trade or a City of London permit. That adds cost but protects your home and your insurance.
How to get more for your money
- Make a list. Five small jobs in one visit cost far less than five separate visits. Walk around the house and write down everything that's been bugging you.
- Send photos when you request a quote. A picture of the leak, crack or mounting spot gives a much more accurate estimate.
- Be flexible on timing. If it isn't urgent, a regular booking costs less than a rush call-out.
- Don't wait. A $150 drywall or caulking repair now is a lot cheaper than the water damage it can prevent.
Questions to ask any handyman before you hire
- Are you insured, and can you show proof of liability coverage?
- Is the price flat or hourly, and what's included?
- What happens if the job turns out to be bigger than expected?
- Do you clean up afterwards?
- Is the work guaranteed?
